Helpful tips when you are involved in any accident resulting in injuries:

1.         Get competent medical attention as soon as possible.  Remember, your health is one of the most precious and irreplaceable things.

2.         At the earliest opportunity, take photographs of the scene of the subject incident or anything involved in the incident.  For instance, if you are involved in an automobile accident, be sure to photograph all the vehicles involved and the scene of the accident, if possible.  If you are involved in a slip and fall incident, be sure to photograph the scene, including whatever it is that caused you to fall. 

3.         Be sure to get names, addresses and phone numbers of all witnesses to any accident or incident as soon as possible.  Witnesses are crucial to winning cases.

4.         Try to always carry a pen and something to write on with you.  In auto accident cases, make sure you have the name, address and phone number of the other person or persons involved in the accident.  Be sure to take down the license plate numbers of any cars involved in the auto accident.
 
5.         Do not give any statements to the insurance adjuster for the opposing party until you have first talked to an attorney.  Any statements you make to anyone after the accident could be used against you later on.         

6.         Do not destroy or discard items involved in any incident.  For example, in an auto accident case, do not "junk" or sell your car without first talking to your attorney and clearing this with him or her.  The wreck of your car may be a critical piece of evidence.
If you are involved in a trip and fall, make sure you keep your shoes that you were wearing at the time of the incident.

7.         To the greatest extent possible, try to document your losses.  If your property was damaged, be sure to keep all receipts and estimates in a safe and accessible place.  If you lost income because of your accident-related injuries, get whatever documentation from your employer or anyone else to substantiate this.  Also, be sure to keep all medical bills and records for your accident-related injuries.

S. G. v. Unnamed Establishment
Los Angeles County Superior Court:  Client suffered serious shoulder and back injuries on the premises of a Southern California business while using a ladder.  Result:  the case settled before trial for a six figure amount.

Nina P. v. Smart & Final
Los Angeles County Superior Court:  Client, an elderly lady suffered soft tissue injuries while shopping at Smart & Final in Los Angeles.  A box of styrofoam cups fell on her causing a small abrasion to her face and bruise on her arm.  Plaintiff walked out of Smart & Final on her own after the incident.  Smart & Final offered no money prior to trial.  The matter proceeded to jury trial.  Result:  VERDICT FOR THE PLAINTIFF (Nina P.). Plaintiff obtained a final judgment over $40,000.00 including case costs.

S. D. v. Unnamed Corporation
Los Angeles County Superior Court:  Client, a woman in her 40's tripped and fell over a speed-bump in a parking lot.  She suffered serious injury to her knee and ultimately had a knee surgery.  Result:  the case settled before trial for a six figure amount.

S. J. v. Ira Cohen
Los Angeles County Superior Court:  Client's previous attorney, Ira Cohen committed legal malpractice in a Client's personal injury case.  Ira Cohen did not file papers opposing a motion to dismiss and did not inform his Client that the opposing party even filed a motion to dismiss.  Result:  Chris Ghahreman obtained a judgment against attorney Ira Cohen for legal malpractice and fraud/deceit in the amount of over $430,000.00.
